Verena Radinger-Peer

Verena Radinger-Peer is Assistant Professor for Sustainable Landscape Development at BOKU University in Vienna. She holds a PhD and Habilitation in Spatial Research and Planning from BOKU. Her research focuses on regional sustainable development, spatial sustainability transitions, land use conflicts, and climate adaptation through nature-based solutions, especially in rural regions. She applies institutional and governance perspectives and uses mixed-method approaches combining qualitative, semi-quantitative, and quantitative methods such as social network analysis.

Verena Radinger-Peer

Birthe Uhlhorn is a trained landscape and environmental planner and a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Landscape Development, Recreation and Conservation Planning at BOKU University. Her research focuses on the transformation of spatial planning processes and teaching environments in the context of climate change and the biodiversity crisis. In her thesis, she explores how digital technologies can be leveraged to make governance structures, decision-making processes, and local adaptation strategies more effective and sustainable.

Meike Jungnickel

Meike Jungnickel is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Landscape Development, Recreation and Conservation Planning at BOKU University. She has a master’s degree in Sustainability management from the University of Wuppertal. In her research she focuses on sustainable tourism development, regional development, as well as urban and regional climate change adaptation.

Gesa Pflitsch

Gesa Pflitsch holds a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from the University of Marburg. At present, she works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Landscape Development, Recreation and Conservation Planning at BOKU University. Gesa’s research focuses on sustainability transitions at the regional level, with a particular interest in the role of universities and civil society actors in such processes. In her work she integrates approaches from Evolutionary Economic Geography, Neo-Institutional Theory and Sustainability Transitions Research. Additionally, she explores new methodological approaches for the visual analysis of sustainability transitions.
